Our Asda Foundation Burnley 10K is one of the region's best-loved events. The route provides runners with a fantastic opportunity to take in the beautiful greenery that surrounds the town, including the its pretty parkland.
Starting at Towneley Park, racers will enjoy a close up of the majestic Towneley Hall - the jewel in Burnley’s historic crown. A flat and fast first Kilometer allows runners to make a positive start to their race as they run along the bottom of the Park’s Events Triangle.
They follow the tree-lined causeway out of the park for a long downhill section along Todmorden Road. The route then levels out to cross Harry Potts Way at Turf Moor, and follows Belvedere Road to the fire station before turning into Thompson Park. The course follows the Park’s picturesque pathways, taking in the beautiful Boating Lake and Italian Gardens.
Runners leave Thompson Park at Queen Victoria Road, and then head up Queens Park Road to take in further parkland. Eventually meeting Belvedere Road again, runners are soon able to attack the last flat returning to Towneley Park. At the finish, runners are met by a wall of noise produced by the many jubilant spectators!
This course is a great opportunity to challenge yourself and tackle its famous hilly terrain.
