Feel ho-ho-happy in the festive weeks knowing that your half marathon starting spot is safely secured. It’s time to enjoy a guilt-free Christmas knowing that you’ll be feeling fit, fresh and healthy in 2019.
Organised by Run For All for the first time in 2018, the Asda Foundation Derby Half Marathon – formerly known as the Ramathon - proved to be a welcome addition to Run For All’s events calendar, attracting thousands of runners and raising tens of thousands of pounds for good causes.
And the good news is that it’s back in 2019 and promises to be even bigger and better. It boasts an exciting new city centre start and finish in Iron Gate close to Derby Cathedral, which will further enhance the event’s already vibrant atmosphere.
Popular features including Derby County’s Pride Park Stadium, Alvaston Park and Elvaston Castle Country Park remain as key elements of the new-look course.
And as well as being the pride of Derby, runners crossing the finish line can look forward to some top-quality souvenirs including a bespoke T-shirt, medal and goody bag containing some excellent post-race treats.
“Thought the second half of the route through Elvaston Castle park and along the river was very lovely and a nice change from the road. Great local support and very well staffed. A great experience for my first half.” Helen Brown
“Well organised race through Derby, good medal and good t shirt.” Daniel Crow
“Great race, well organised and supported. Top marks for all those involved and the people of Derby who came out to support.” Ian Oakley
“Registration was perfect as was pre-race information. Baggage deposit/ recovery system was fast and effective. Marshals were fantastic. Thanks for a really good day.” Colin Johnstone
“Marshals and local support were very good. The finish area was well staffed and the T-shirt and medal were definitely worth the hard work. In fact the medal is quite different so will be a good addition to the medal hanger.” Ashley Wilks
