While entry into the Arena Group Bury Family Fun Run is free for children aged 3 to 14, youngsters are encouraged to try to support a charity of their choice by raising a small amount.

Children are welcome to support any charity of their choice, but are especially encouraged to think about raising funds for the event's official partner charity, which in 2016 is Buddy's for Children with Autism.

This Bury-based charity helps parent carers, siblings and young people on the autism spectrum. The charity was founded by Bury mum Jane Lord whose son Joshua has autism.

Buddy's long term aim is to provide educational workshops for young people, extra tuition, Lego therapy, a low stimulus party venue, a sensory room and garden.

Jane said: "Our mission statement is to inspire hope and contribute to the health and well-being of children with autism by providing the best support through friendship and education."
