Hull 10K Launch

Tuesday 6th October saw the launch of the inaugural Jane Tomlinson Hull 10k. It is hoped 5,000 will join the Run For All in Hull and that the event will raise a huge amount for the charities supported by those taking part. The Hull 10K follows in the footsteps of the hugely successful Leeds 10K, set up by the late Jane Tomlinson CBE and held annually since 2007, and the sell-out York 10K, held for the first time this August.

Mike Tomlinson said: “To bring Jane’s legacy to the city means a great deal to my family. It was Jane’s wish that Run For All was brought here and we are honoured to realise that ambition on her behalf. Jane was at university in Hull for a year and had many good friends here. Jane also received an honorary degree from Hull University in the same year our eldest daughter graduated there.

“After the success of the first 10K in Leeds in 2007, Jane began to make plans to start a community fundraising run in two more cities – York and Hull. The first York 10K was held this August and was a fantastic success. We are sure the same will be the case for the inaugural Hull 10K next May, when 5,000 people will be able to share that experience and in doing so achieve Jane’s ultimate goal and together raise thousands of pounds for charities and good causes.”

Jane Tomlinson’s Hull 10K will start and finish in the picturesque Queen’s Gardens area and pass through the city’s Highlights both old and new. It will take in Hull’s historic gems such as the Guildhall and the Maritime Museum and bring runners along the waterfront, past The Deep and through Hull Marina, all with the iconic Humber Bridge in the distance.

The event already has the support of the city’s major sports clubs: Hull Kingston Rovers, Hull City and Hull FC who will all enter teams in the city centre event
