Young runners take their marks for the 2017 Arena Group Mini and Junior Series (1)

Thousands of youngsters and their families are getting set for a season of fun as they prepare to pull on their trainers for the Arena Group Mini and Junior Run Series!

The series of fun events take place throughout the spring and summer across the North and Midlands and are a great way to introduce young people to mass participation running – and charity fundraising.

The Arena Group series – organised by Jane Tomlinson’s Run For All – kicks off on Saturday 1st April with the Lincoln Mini and Junior Run, part of the City of Lincoln 10K weekend. Hundreds of youngsters are expected to take part in three races staged at the city’s Yarborough Leisure Centre.

Next up is the Sheffield Mini and Junior Run, just a week later on Sunday 9th April, and part of the Yorkshire Half Marathon-Sheffield. Children as young as three will take to the streets for their very own taste of running glory!

The Leeds Mini and Junior Run is the biggest in the series and takes place around Leeds Dock on Saturday 8th July. Up to 1,000 children will take part, helping to raise funds for local causes.

The York Mini and Junior Run takes centre stage on Sunday 6th August and is followed by two Arena Group Family Fun Runs at Bury on September 17th and Sheffield on Sunday 24th September.

Thanks to the kind generosity of the document experts, Arena Group, the Mini and Junior events are all entirely FREE to enter, with just a small charge for the family fun runs.

Finishers all get a goody bag with treats – and everyone also gets a medal to show their friends they did it!

The young runners are encouraged to use the run to raise a small amount of sponsorship for a favourite charity, or the official partner charity of each event, and to share their pre-event build up and fun on the day on Twitter #RunWithArena.

Adrian Fitzpatrick, Managing Director at Arena Group, said: “We are proud to sponsor the Mini and Junior Series into its seventh year. The events have become very popular with over 3,400 young children running for free in 2016.

“The events are great days out for the whole family and we’re pleased to see so many people giving support to some really worthwhile local charities.”

Siobhan Curtis, Corporate and Sponsorship Manager at Run For All, said: “Arena Group’s support over many years has seen tens of thousands of children take part in these events, which are a fantastic introduction to running and fundraising.

“This year looks like being just as popular and we’re looking forward to seeing lots of children cross the finishing line!”
