Burnley 10K

Our Asda Foundation Burnley 10K is one of the region's best-loved events, attracting around 2,000 runners each summer.

Small in size, but not in spirit, what feels like the whole town turns out to support runners in this fantastic 10K challenge.

Now in its fifth year, Burnley runners took on a new turn in 2016 with the announcement of a new course!

In 2016 the race began and finished in Towneley Park, outside the majestic Towneley Hall, the jewel in Burnley’s crown.

Teams in each of the challenges must have a minimum of four members (there is no upper limit) and there are three categories – open, mixed and female.

In the open and female categories, the average time of the first four team members home will be used to calculate the winners, while the times of the first two men and first two women will count in the mixed category.

The event is chip timed and there are goody bags, medals and finishers’ T-shirts for all those taking part.

The price of an entry in the Team Challenge is the same price as the event's general entry price.

Teams triumph in Burnley

The VEKA Derian Dashers took the honours in the open category in the Asda Foundation Burnley 10K.

With the times of the first four team members home counting, VEKA Derian Dashers triumphed in the event’s open category with an average time of 50:41.

A team from Burnley College are celebrating after successfully winning again this year, this time in the mixed category – in which the times of the first two men and first two women across the finish line counted – in an average time of 50:36.

A great way for friends and colleagues to get together to tackle the event, the team challenge brought an added dimension to the Asda Foundation Burnley 10K on June 5th which attracted nearly 2,000 runners to Burnley.

The challenge was chip-timed and, along with prizes for the winners, there were goody bags, medals and finishers’ t-shirts for all those taking part.

Team challenges are a super way to foster team spirit and raise money for good causes. If you are inspired to get together with friends and take on a charity run, check out the team challenges which are a feature of all our events, except the Plusnet Yorkshire Marathon and 10 Mile.
