Meet our Pacers

Sponsored by Arla our team of pacers on the day will be pacing at 5 minute intervals between 40 minutes and 1 hour 30 minutes. They will be wearing backpack with flags displaying the finish time they are pacing, and will assemble in the correct area according to predicted times. Use them to hit your personal targets and be sure to say thanks once you’ve crossed the line!

Rob Fowler 40mins - I entered my first proper race - a local 10K - in December 2016. I had no idea what to expect but ended up doing okay, finishing in the top 100 (out of a field of 1200). The following week, I joined my local running club and within a month I'd raced my first half marathon! Two-and-a-half years on, I've completed 5 full marathons, plus dozens of halves, 10Ks and 5Ks. I enjoy pacing at my local parkrun and look forward to helping you to a big PB!!

Leigh Harvey 45mins - Hi I’m Leigh, I started running around 7 years ago when I got too old for football and the wife wanted us to do something as a family, So we started doing parkrun. From there I’ve gone on to run 10k’s, half marathons and various full marathons. The running community is amazing and it can be so rewarding. Run for fun and enjoy it because most importantly, you’re out there doing it!

David Semmance 45mins - Hi I'm David. I'm a Run Leader and a member of Bramley Breezers Running Club. I've been running since 2013 when I did my first 5k Race and never looked back. I've ran 7 Marathon's & lost count of how many Half Marathons,  10 mile, 10k's & 5k's I've done. I decided to start pacing as I want to give something back and help other runners gain PB's. So follow me and I'll get you under your target time.

Dan Ayres 50mins - Hi I’m Dan and I’ve been a runner for 6 years now and joined St Theresa’s running club 2 years ago. The club and its members have inspired me to help others achieve and it’s my second time pacing this race, so you’re in good hands. If you want a PB come and find me - good luck!

Tillie Clark 50mins - I started running to raise vital funds for the Leeds Children’s Hospital, after my cousin Lottie was born prematurely. I think my biggest running achievement to date is being a Rio Olympic Marathon course tester. I’m reliable, on time, honest and I like to keep the runners with me entertained with games and music.

Sarah Waite 55mins - Hello, my name is Sarah. I have been running for around 4/5 years. I enjoy running over various distances and terrains, racing and pacing. If you're looking for support and encouragement to break the 55min barrier, please come and say hello.

Jessica Dodds 55mins - Hi I’m Jess, I started running after I had my 2 boys, (currently aged 2 & 3) as pounding the streets was my peace and quiet, from that start I’ve kept going and completed various distances including a Marathon. I’m a vegan runner. I went Vegan 2 weeks before my 1st marathon and never looked back. I got into pacing as the running community is the best so I can’t wait to give back and help other runners smash their goals.

Denise McGeachy 60mins - The thing I love most about running is that no matter who you are, no matter your what your age or ability, every time you put your trainers on you have the opportunity to achieve something, a faster run or a longer run and the more you do it, the more achievements you can make, no matter how small – they are still your achievements. Being asked to be a pacer is a real honour, I’m delighted that on race day I can do my bit to help competitors achieve their goals – If you see me please say hi

Nick Wealleans 60mins - I’ve been running properly - i.e. without a football - for 7 years now and I’m still not sure I like it. What I do like, however, is the buzz when you finish, even better if you PB. I’ve done a lot of pacing over the years and I’m very much look forward to York, it’s a fabulous route with excellent support and helping some people to hopefully achieve their goals. Come find me, I’ll have jelly babies. See you on race day.

Shaun Loftus 1hr 05mins  - Hi my name is Shaun I am a member of St Theresas AC running club in Leeds. Pacing is my passion! From parkrun to marathon- I love being a part of helping runners to achieve their individual goals whatever they may be. Looking forward to meeting you, running with you and hopefully enjoying the race.

Stu Sklinar 1hr 05mins  - My biggest running achievement is probably the marathon at the end of my first Ironman, which coincidentally, was my first triathlon. I'm not a very serious-minded runner, and would most likely stop for a chat rather than put my head down for a good time.

Jo Loftus 1hr 10mins  - Hi there! I'm looking forward to being your 70min pacer. Hope your training has gone well and you are fired up for a great day. Please come say hello before the start. I’m on old hand at pacing having done many with Northern Pacing Volunteers and absolutely love the experience.  Together we can do this! Believe in yourself!

Violet Gill - 1hr 10mins - I started running about 6 years ago after stopping smoking when I found out I was going to be a Grandma. My first race was the York 10k, I love all the people I have met through running. Have a great day!

Victoria Turnbull 1hr 15mins - This will be my first race as a pacer (please be nice!) so as a newbie I am full of energy and will be giving out a tonne of encouragement and maybe even some jelly babies if your lucky. After running with a pacer at Bradford 10k who pushed me to achieve a PB, I wanted to be able to help others smash out some PBs too.

Rachel Driver 1hr 20mins - As a challenge, I wanted to do something different. I went from non runner to a marathon runner in 6 months. I'll be giving plenty of encouragement to get you over the finish line and I'll most likely have Jelly Babies.

Paula Ayres 1hr 25mins - Hi I'm Paula and I run for St Theresa's AC in Leeds. I started to feel the run buzz in 2016 after a few failed attempts but now I never look back only forwards. It's helped me overcome so many obstacles & given me a new lease of life - now I want to help other people achieve their goals too! I can’t wait to meet you all & support you at my favourite race! Bring that zing & See you at the start line!

Judy Lankester 1hr 30mins - My friend dragged me kicking and screaming to the first TN parkrun promising to run together. Lost her after the first 15 seconds. Probably loved the cake after more than the run. But continued nonetheless and now can’t stop. I’ll try my best to help and encourage and make it fun - failing that I’ll let you swear as much as you want to.
