Getting There

With extensive transport links, centrally-located Derby is one of the country's most accessible cities.

BY RAIL AND BUS

Frequent, direct trains carry visitors from London to Derby in just 93 minutes. There are also regular services from Scotland, the North East, the Midlands and across the Pennines.

National Express coaches operate daily to Derby from across the UK. Trent Barton (www.trentbarton.co.uk) and Arriva (www.arrivabus.co.uk/Derby) operate services from Derby Bus Station.

BY ROAD

The city centre is 15 minutes from junction 24 of the M1 and accessible via the A6, A50, A38 and A52.

  • Car Park 1 (Pride Park & Ride)

Accessible from the Wyvern and Island 1 only, 700 spaces - no buses or vans

PLEASE NOTE: no entry/exit from 9:30am to 12:15. 

 

  • Car Park 2 (Derby Arena)

Accessible from London Road and Island 4 only, 400 spaces

PLEASE NOTE: Car park closes at 8:45am until 9:40am

 

  • Car park 3 (Hudson Way Pay and Display car park)

Accessible from the Cock Pitt and Island 5 only, 250 spaces

PLEASE NOTE: Pay and Display with no change given and Car Park closes at 8:45am to 9:40am

 

  • Car park 4 (SNC - Lavalin Car park)

Accessible from the Cock Pitt and Island 5 only, 200 spaces

PLEASE NOTE: Managed by SNC - Lavalin and they is a charge of £2 to enter - proceeds go to the SNC Lavalin's chosen charity. Car park closes at 8:45am to 9:40am 

 

  • Disabled Parking

 Disabled parking for blue badge holders can be found in Car parks 1 (Pride park and ride) and Car park 2 (Derby Arena) 

 

ADDITIONAL CAR PARKING INFORMATION

  • Due to the works on the Wyvern, we have a reduce car parking allocation this year.
  • Runners encouraged to arrive early as Pride Park gets very busy and the road closure times go on earlier.
  • Runners encouraged to plan where to park well in advance.
  • There is plenty of parking available in Derby City Centre but note the road closure times and it is 1.3 miles to walk/jog/run.
  • Derby is well served by alternative car parks including Abbey Street, St Peter’s Quarter, Siddals Road, Drewry Lane and Bold Lane.

Derby is 30 minutes from East Midlands Airport. More information at www.east-midland-airport-guide.co.uk. Half-hourly Skylink buses operate between the airport and Derby.
