Sponsored by Up & Running’s Social Run Group (SRG) our team of pacers on the day will be pacing at 5 minute intervals between 1hr 30minutes and 2 hours 20minutes. They will be wearing backpack with flags displaying the finish time they are pacing, and will assemble in the correct area according to predicted times. Use them to hit your personal targets and be sure to say thanks once you’ve crossed the line!
Join any of the nationwide free SRGs for a weekly 5K, helping you to get the weekly miles in or recover from the weekend’s long run. SRG welcomes runners or all abilities, and are organised so that everyone gets the run they want and no-one gets left behind.

This is my third time pacing the Sheffield half marathon and the second year in a row doing 1:35. Like everyone I'll be glad to get the climb out of the way - no doubt fuelled by a few jelly babies - before settling into the nice, downhill section back to Sheffield, and hopefully helping some of you to new personal bests.
I will be running an even effort overall; so a bit slower up the hill aiming to hit 6 miles in around 46-47 mins (circa 7:45 average mile), speeding up downhill and ending up with 13.1 miles in about 1h34m45s (7:14 average mile).
Hi I'm Matt, your 1:40 pacer.
I've been running for about 6 years, 3 of those with the Steel City Striders. In that time I've completed events from 5k to 50 miles, meeting some great people along the way. I'm now helping others with my coaching, as well as trying to hit new PBs for myself.
I've paced the Sheffield Half a couple of times and love the event, especially the views at the top of the hill. If you are after sub 1:40 then stick with me, put your foot down in the home straight and go for glory. Hope you all have a great time
Hello. My name is Richard Pegg and I am pacing 1 hour 45 minutes at the Sheffield half Marathon. I have always enjoyed running at all levels. It is a great way to get fit as well as getting outside and away from the every day problems that we have in our lives.
I have been a member of the Steel City Striders Running Club for 4 years. I joined initially to take advantage of reduced race entry but now really enjoy the fun, camaraderie and support of our running community. I have run the current Sheffield Half Marathon 3 times now and know that to achieve your goal on this course you have to know the terrain and have a decent race plan.
On the day you can turn up and I will try my hardest to get you round in the target time. Alternatively, you can join me on reccies of the course and we can discuss / agree a race plan. I plan to meet on the following venues, dates and times:
Hi, I'm Andy ( Wuff ) your 1:50 (110 mins ) pacer.
I am born and bred in this wonderful City and a lifelong owl ( please don’t hold that against me ).
I have been running for 3 years with the Steel City Striders, and have taken part in varying events / distances ranging from Parkruns 5k to Half marathons . In 2016 I paced 1.50 ( 110 mins ) at the Sheffield half and paced 50 mins in the Sheffield 10k in 2016 so I have some experience in helping to get you to that target of sub 1.50.
Sheffield is a challenging course but the support from the crowds is amazing. Stick with me up those undulations, take a breath and enjoy the views back over the City once we get to Norfolk Arms.
I look forward to pacing some of you and seeing those smiling faces at the end with a PB.
See you on the 8th April.
Still available. If you like to pace for us at 1hr 55mins, please contact email@example.com
I have been running for over 25 years and found that every time I raced there was always someone around to encourage me to do better whether it was fellow club mates or other runners. For the past few years I have tried to give something back whether it is leading club runs for Steel City Striders or pacing in races. Everyone needs encouragement and if I can help people gain a PB or just to get over that mental time barrier then it will give me great pleasure.
I hope we all have a great race on the day and hope fully you will all enjoy being paced along.
Hi, I’ve again been selected as the 2.05hour pacer for the third consecutive year. I’ve continued to enjoy running since last year in between numerous injuries and look forward to this great race in my home city. I have been running for a number of years now with the Steel City Striders which is a amazing friendly club that I highly recommend anyone. Looking forward to seeing some of you on the day. Paul
Hi I'm Rachel. I've been running for just over 3 years now. I wont be the fastest runner but I will be finishing with a smile on my face. I'm excited to be pacing for the Sheffield half this year - bringing you in for just under 2 hours ten. It’s always going to be special race for me as it was my first half. Since then I've done a few more halfs and completed my first marathon last year. I hope i can encourage some of you to lace up your shoes and achieve your running goals.
I’m Dan and I am a member of the Steel City Striders in Sheffield. I first started running to raise cash for a charity and lose 5 stone worth of takeaways and beer. At the time I couldn’t run a mile without stopping and if it wasn’t for the help of others I would have never been able to complete 10k’s, half marathons and a marathon.
I’ve been part of many races where a pacer has got me through to the finish, so I’m very excited to return the favour and get you all over that line in sub 2hr 15min
See you all on race day.
Hi, my name is Nicole & I am your two hour twenty pacer. Running came to me later in life but I soon became addicted and joined Steel City Striders. I have completed a number of 10K & Half Marathon Races, including Sheffield, and last year I ran the Berlin Big 25K. I am looking forward to pacing my home half marathon at a steady pace that will allow us to conquer those hills, take in the great views and have a great race.
