26-mile marathon trek

This challenging 26-mile marathon route takes you through some classic areas of upland limestone countryside of the Yorkshire Dales, including Malham Tarn and the Pennine Way. 

The area is well known for its excellent walking opportunities, and it's a great place to get out in the fresh air and enjoy the countryside.

Start and finish: North Ribblesdale Rugby Club, Settle

Perfect for: Walkers looking for a big challenge!

Terrain: The marathon route incorporates several climbs, including Calton Moor and Weets Top, open grassy stretches, grass & gravel paths and quiet winding lanes. The  varied terrain will provide a great challenge and includes stunning views of Malham Tarn, which is a beautiful focal point in the area.  

This walk will need to be completed within a maximum of 11 hours although we estimate that the vast majority of walkers will complete the walk between 6.5 and 10 hours.

Entry fee: £25* per person. This event is open to those aged 18 and over.

Registration: 6:30am - 7:30am

Start time: 7am - 8am

  • Course waymarked with plenty of signposts and marshals
  • Checkpoints including water bottle re-fill opportunity and toilet provision
  • Warm welcome back at the walk finish, where you will receive a finisher’s medal and t-shirt

Optional extras

  • A warm breakfast sandwich is available for an additional cost of £5
  • A hot meal can be pre-ordered for when you've completed the walk, for an additional cost of £7
