Equipment

Please find below a list of both mandatory and recommended clothing and equipment for the Walk events:

Mandatory Clothing & Equipment

  • Suitable walking attire including waterproof clothing
  • Appropriate footwear which has been worn in
  • Refillable water container
  • Food
  • OS OL2 Map (It is recommended that walkers familiarise themselves with the route and mark the route onto the OS map in advance of the event to use alongside the walk guide, available for purchase on entry)
  • Compass

 Recommended clothing & equipment

  • Waterproof map carrier
  • Whistle
  • Foil blanket
  • First Aid Kit
  • Sun cream

You will receive a list of recommended equipment ahead of the event.

Your event number
You will be provided with an event number for the walks, please ensure that you fill in your emergency information on the back and keep the number safe at all times.

The number will be used to confirm your attendance at checkpoints from a safety perspective, so it is important for your own safety to ensure that you confirm your attendance as per the instructions you will be provided with.

 

Route guidance & maps
The walk is a challenge so you will be expected to navigate your way round the course. If you have any concerns whilst out on the route please report to one of the  marshals who will be able to help you. Please obey any instructions issued by the route marshals at all times.

There will be directional signage and marshals along the route to assist walkers at key junctions. Please be aware of vehicles using roads and pay due care and attention. 

The route guidance and maps found on the following pages have been produced for your guidance only and should be used alongside the Ordnance Survey Map OL2 Yorkshire Dales Southern & Western Areas. It is intended that all information provided is correct at time of printing. No liability will be accepted whatsoever for any errors in the guidance or maps.
