Road closures run down for Asda Foundation York 10K

Thousands of runners will be pulling on their trainers to raise money for charity on Sunday August 2nd when they take part in the Asda Foundation York 10K.

Each year the hugely popular event raises many tens of thousands of pounds for a host of local good causes.

Organisers Run For All are now advising runners, spectators, residents and visitors that a number of the city's roads will be closed or have access restricted during the event

As part of the setting up operations, a small number of road closures will be in place from noon on Saturday August 1st. Knavesmire Road will be closed between its junction with Tadcaster Road and Knavesmire Crescent from  noon on Saturday until 2pm on Sunday. Parking restrictions will also be in operation on Knavesmire Road, Racecourse Road, Bishopthorpe Road, Vine Street, Butcher Terrace and Priory Street between 4pm on Saturday until 2pm on Sunday.

Elsewhere, from 5pm on Friday July 31st until 2pm on Sunday August 2nd there will be parking suspensions on Knavesmire Road from Tadcaster Road to Knavesmire Crescent.

On Sunday, most roads around the 10K route will be closed from 8:30am until noon including Bishopthorpe Road, Coney Street, Skeldergate from Terry Avenue to Bishopgate Street and Minster Yard from Duncombe Place to Deangate.

Knavesmire Road from Tadcaster Road to Campleshon Road will be closed from 4am until 2pm and the whole of Racecourse Road will be closed from 6am until 2pm.

Event lead Lucy Elsender said: “The Asda Foundation York 10K is a fantastic event that always generates such a great atmosphere and we are very grateful to everyone who offers it such great support.

With such a big event some disruption is unavoidable but we work very hard to keep it to a minimum and endeavour to get roads open as soon as it is safe to do so. We would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience and thank people for their patience.”

Road closure leaflets are being delivered to addresses affected and a full list can be found at www.runforall.com.
