Runners on their marks for Asda Foundation Nottingham 10K

Almost 3,000 runners are set to pull on their trainers on Sunday 28th May for one of Nottinghamshire’s biggest charity road runs.

Launched last year, the second annual Asda Foundation Nottingham 10K is expected to generate a huge cash injection for good causes.

This year’s flat and fast course starts and finishes at Nottingham Forest FC’s ground, on the banks of the River Trent.

From the football stadium, it takes runners on a journey through the scenic Lady Bay area. They then travel on Holme Pierrepont Country Park, home to the National Watersports Centre, where they will take a lap of the Regatta Lake, before heading for home and a grand finish back at the City Ground.

Part of the popular Asda Foundation 10K series, the event is organised by Run For All and forms part of the legacy of the late Jane Tomlinson, an inspirational fundraiser who completed a series of gruelling challenges to raise nearly £2m despite battling incurable cancer.

Lynne Preston, Run For All Events Manager, said: “We are very much looking forward to staging this year’s Asda Foundation Nottingham 10K with a great new course which offers excellent PB potential.

“There was a wonderful atmosphere at last year’s inaugural run and we are sure that will be replicated this year.”

Julie Ward, Asda Foundation Senior Manager, said: “Last year’s first Asda Foundation Nottingham 10K was a fantastic addition to the Asda Foundation Series and it is encouraging to see that this year’s run has attracted another great response.

“Good luck to everyone taking part, particularly the many runners taking on the challenge to raise money for some excellent causes.”

The event’s partner charities are Jane Tomlinson Appeal, Macmillan Cancer Support, Framework, Nottingham Hospitals Charity, Treetops Hospice, Mysight, Equation, Cerebral Palsy Support and Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance.

This year’s event includes a new Charity Challenge, which gives teams of four the chance to compete for a £500 boost to their fundraising total.

Supporters and sponsors are Asda Foundation, Viisana, Aftershokz, Up & Running, Arla Protein, Runderwear and bananakick.

Limited places remain in the Nottingham 10K.
