Thousands of Asda Foundation Nottingham 10K runners set to give charities a huge cash injection

Over 1,500 runners are expected to hand local charities a major cash injection at one of the East Midlands' favourite 10K events this Sunday.

Thousands of runners will pull on their trainers and give local charities a huge cash injection at the Asda Foundation Nottingham 10K on Sunday 12th August.

Now in its third year running, the popular charity road race is expected to raise a huge sum of money to help support a number of local charitable causes.

Runners of the Asda Foundation Nottingham 10K are welcome to run for fun, for a charity close to their hearts or for one of the Asda Foundation Nottingham 10K’s partner charities.

This year’s official partner charities are the Jane Tomlinson Appeal, MacMillan Cancer Support, Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance, Rosie May Foundation, Equation, Nottingham Hospitals Charity, Notts County Football in the Community, Canaan Trust, My Sight Nottinghamshire and Treetops Hospice Care.

This year’s runners will be treated to a new 10K route which starts and finishes in Nottingham Rugby Club and features Holme Pierrepont National Watersports Centre – home of a 700m white water course purpose built for the UK’s elite watersport athletes.

From Nottingham Rugby Club, the new 10K route takes runners eastbound on Trent Boulevard and then onto Adbolton Lane to reach Holme Pierrepont National Watersports Centre. After completing a lap of the Club Regatta, runners travel on to Adbolton Lane before turning up Adbolton Grove, along Holme Road and back into Nottingham Rugby Club for the finish line.

The run is organised by Run For All and forms part of the legacy of the late Jane Tomlinson who raised £1.85m by completing a series of gruelling endurance challenges - despite battling incurable cancer.

Tristan Batley-Kyle, Head of Events at Run For All, said: “We are very much looking forward to staging this year’s Asda Foundation Nottingham 10K with a great new course which offers excellent PB potential.

“There was a wonderful atmosphere at last year’s run and we are sure that will be replicated this year.”

The run is one of the highlights of the Asda Foundation 10K Series, which includes events in Leeds, Sheffield, Hull, York, Leicester, King’s Lynn, Lincoln, Burnley and Bury.

Mandy Rivett, Co-ordinator of the Asda Foundation, said: “It is great to see that this year’s run has attracted another great response from the people of Nottingham.

“Good luck to everyone taking part, particularly the many runners taking on the challenge to raise money for some excellent causes.”

Supporters and sponsors of the Asda Foundation Nottingham 10K are Asda Foundation, Up & Running, Aftershockz, Arla Protein, Runderwear, Bananakick, Magenta Self Storage and Hertz.
