Arena Group Leeds Mini and Junior runs set for a major revamp

The prestigious John Charles Centre for Sport is set to host the 2018 Leeds Mini and Junior runs on Saturday 7th July.

Arena Group’s Leeds Mini and Junior runs will take a new course for 2018 and be hosted at the John Charles Centre for Sport.

On Saturday 7th July, youngsters aged 3 to 15 will be excited to take on 2018’s Arena Group Leeds Mini and Junior runs.

Youngsters aged 3 to 8 will be able to tackle a 1.5K course accompanied by an adult, whilst those aged 9 and above will be free to take on a 2.5K course.

The John Charles Centre for Sport has a number of impressive athletics facilities, not least, the eight-lane- all-weather outdoor athletics track which will be hosting both the mini and junior events.

The change of venue is also sure to satisfy the many families who will be able to spectate the runs from the 2,500-seater grandstand.

To add to the day’s spectacle, the runs will feature a friendly school competition in which the schools will compete to have the highest percentage of children taking part - relative to their school size.

The winning primary and secondary schools will win a variety of fantastic prizes - courtesy of the mini and junior runs' title sponsor, Arena Group.

Adrian Fitzpatrick, managing director at Arena Group, explains, “We’re passionate about this event and what it stands for. As long young people from the city and beyond sign up to take part, we’re happy to provide the support.

“The Arena Team, led by our mascot, Arena Owl, is all about positive values, making good choices and having fun. By providing the funding, we hope that these events will provide many young people with an amazingly uplifting experience and perhaps encourage a passion for healthy living.”

The runs will be supporting the charity Elliot’s Footprint who help families through child bereavement by offering help and guidance whilst campaigning and fundraising for improved bereavement services.
