Inspirational Isla Sinclair is set to complete her 200 mile challenge at the Asda Foundation Leeds Half Marathon on Sunday 13th May 2018.

In December 2015, Isla’s best friend’s daughter, Lilli, became very ill when a common chest infection spread through her nervous system and onto her brain.

At just three years old, she was omitted to the Intensive Care Unit at Leeds Children's Hospital where she received lifesaving treatment.

“It was with thanks to all the amazing doctors, nurses and other specialists on the unit who worked tirelessly around the clock, that Lilli's condition gradually improved.

“I remember feeling so useless at the time, there was nothing I could do to help Lilli or my best friend who was sleeping night after night in a hospital at the other end of the country.”

Following these events, Isla vowed to raise money for the hospital by running 200 miles – the distance from her home in Essex to Leeds Children's Hospital – by the end of 2017.

The 2017 Leeds Half Marathon should have been the last race to complete her 200 mile challenge. Unfortunately, due to injury, Isla had to pull out of the 2017 race.

Determined to finish her 200 mile series with the Leeds Half Marathon – passing the hospital that saved Lilli – Isla deferred her place to run in 2018.

“The inspiration to fund raise for Leeds Children's Hospital has continued to drive my training and motivation to run the Leeds Half Marathon.

“As an NHS employee, I know what a fantastic job the nurses and doctors do, and Lilli’s recovery to a clean bill of health couldn’t have happened without the incredible support of all the staff on the unit.”
