Sheffield-born Neil Esposito will attempt to run his first ever Half Marathons to raise money for Weston Park Cancer Hospital.
Neil Esposito aims to complete seven Half Marathons in seven days – now that’s a challenge and a half.
A self-confessed ‘sporadic’ runner, Neil, is hoping to take on a challenge that even the most seasoned of competitors would fear.
Speaking to Run For All, Neil said: “I decided I wanted to raise some money and get fit so I set myself the challenge of running seven half marathons in seven days.”
Having never previously ran a Half marathon before, the odds are stacked against this brave Yorkshire-man.
Nevertheless, Neil is hoping that come the seventh race, when his body is telling him to quit, his home city crowd will carry his tired legs over the finish line.
“It seemed fitting to end my Half Marathon challenge doing the Sheffield Half.
“If I manage to make it through the first six runs, I thought finishing with the Sheffield Half Marathon would be a nice way to round it all off.
“I’ll need the crowd to help me through the last one!”
Neil is raising money for the Weston Park Cancer Hospital which is partly funded through charitable gifts and donations.
On average, nearly 60,000 patient visits are received by the department every year.
Patients travel from all across the country, in some cases even from abroad, in order to receive the specialist treatments and care for which Weston Park is renowned.
