Get into GEAR is back for 2019!

Eight sessions of Get into GEAR will be provided for runners of all ages and abilities next year in preparation for the 2019 Asda Foundation GEAR 10K.

Get into GEAR training sessions are back to help runners of all ages and abilities prepare for next year’s Asda Foundation GEAR 10K on Sunday 5th May.

Eight weeks of Get Into GEAR sessions have been organised due to the popularity of last year. They will take place every Wednesday at 7pm starting from 6th March.

The training will take place on the running track at Lynn Sport and last approximately an hour.

They will be run by local King’s Lynn running club, Ryston Runners, who have continuously supported the scheme. Their sessions aim to create a supportive atmosphere and encourage their runners to achieve personal goals.

The sessions will focus on the improvement of running form, endurance, mind-body coordination, motivation and metabolism. This will be supported by a series of interval training methods.

These training sessions will be provided free of charge – thanks to sponsors Bespak - will be brought to you by Ryston Runners. They will offer the local King’s Lynn community the opportunity to find new training buddies, improve their fitness and get into gear for the 2019 Asda Foundation GEAR 10K.

Ryston Runners AC Chairman, Rob Simmonds, said: “We are delighted that the Get Into GEAR training sessions are returning for next year. We saw our runners accomplish some incredible achievements at 2018’s Asda Foundation GEAR 10K and we were proud to be a part of that.

“Everyone is welcome to join us next year. It doesn’t matter about your age or ability, it’s all about having a good time and improving our health in the process.”

Early bird entries for the 2019 Asda Foundation GEAR 10K are now available for £22 plus a small processing fee here.

Thanks to the generosity of sponsors Bespak, all runners that attend over six of the eight sessions will receive a free gift as an extra incentive to clock up the miles.

Michael Earl, Vice President, Commercial at Bespak, said: “It is great to offer these training sessions to the King’s Lynn community. They are an enjoyable way to stay fit and healthy, plus, they offer great preparation for the Asda Foundation GEAR 10K”.

“We are really excited for next May - especially the Bespak Corporate challenge and the Bespak Mini GEAR which we are extremely proud to support.”

The Bespak Mini GEAR is a 1.2K fun run that will take place on the same day as the 10K. It will offer runners, over the age of six, a chance to participate on Sunday 5th May.

Entries will be opening soon and available here.  All finishers will be provided with a medal, T-shirt and goody bag.

The Asda Foundation GEAR 10K and Bespak Mini GEAR runs are organised by the not-for-profit organisation Run For All who continue the legacy of the late amateur athlete Jane Tomlinson who raised nearly £2m for charity whilst battling incurable cancer.

Runners are welcome to run for fun, a charity of their choice of one partner charities which so far include – East Anglia Children's Hospice, West Norfolk Mind, Benjamin Foundation and the Jane Tomlinson Appeal.
