One of Yorkshire's favourite runs will return for 2019 to offer something for all at the Asda Foundation Yorkshire Marathon Festival.
Proud to be a little bit different - thousands of runners, fundraisers and families will flock to York on Sunday 20th October to be a part of the Asda Foundation Yorkshire 10 Mile.
Taking place on the same day as the Yorkshire Marathon, the 10 Mile run will add an extra inclusive element to the fantastic Yorkshire Running Festival that attracts people of all ages and abilities every year.
Demand for 10 Mile places is again expected to be high, with entrants enjoying the unique atmosphere that has become such a feature of the marathon since its launch in 2013. You can enter the 10 Mile here: www.runforall.com/events/10-mile/yorkshire-10-mile/.
Tristan Batley-Kyle, head of events at race organiser Run For All, said: “From day one the response to the Yorkshire 10 Mile has been brilliant. The route is scenic and the distance is one that many people find manageable.”
Starting and finishing at the University of York, the 10 Mile takes in a section of the attractive 26.2 mile marathon course.
Mandy Hepworth, Asda Foundation coordinator, said: “The Yorkshire 10 Mile has quickly grown into a very popular feature of marathon day. It is excellent that so many people turn out for an event that supports some wonderful charities.”
People can run for a charity of their own choice or opt to support one of the events official partner charities – the Jane Tomlinson Appeal, Macmillan Cancer Support, Candlelighters, Alzheimer’s Society, Martin House Children’s Hospice, St Leonard’s Hospice and St Gemma’s Hospice.
The Yorkshire 10 Mile is expected to raise tens of thousands of pounds for charity and continues the fundraising legacy of the late Jane Tomlinson.
Jane raised nearly £2m for charity by tackling a string of endurance challenges including triathlons, marathons and a 4,200-mile cycle ride across the width of the USA – all despite being diagnosed with incurable cancer.
Jane Tomlinson’s Run For All organise charity road runs across the UK as part of the Asda Foundation Series. This series boasts popular events such as the Yorkshire 10 Mile, Yorkshire Marathon, half marathons in Leeds, Sheffield, Hull and Derby, plus, a host of 10Ks.
