Accountants Grant Thornton showed their rivals a clean pair of heels when they raced to victory in the Asda Foundation Sheffield Half Marathon Team Challenge.
A popular feature of the half marathon, the challenge is a race within a race in which companies and other organisations compete to be crowned the event’s fastest team.
The times of the first three team members home are used to calculate the results. Grant Thornton won in an impressive time of 1:25:27 ahead of Irwin Mitchell who took second place in 1:27:20. Eastwood and Partners finished third with a time of 1:29:45 – just four seconds ahead of fourth-placed HASSRA Yorkshire and Humber.
The winners lifted the Keith Ibbotson Millennium Trophy, established in memory of Keith, a Sheffield City Council employee and keen runner who died of cancer.
Nicola Christian, sponsorship and corporate manager with event organiser Run For All, said: “The challenge brings an extra dimension to the Sheffield Half Marathon and it was wonderful to see so many companies and other teams taking part. Congratulations to Grant Thornton on their wonderful effort.”
If you want to experience the buzz of event day, you don’t have to wait a full year to take part in another Team Challenge. We are returning to Sheffield in September with our Asda Foundation Sheffield 10K corporate challenge!
