A number of roads in the city will be closed or have restricted access to ensure the safety of those taking part
Thousands of runners of all ages and abilities will take to the streets of Coventry on Sunday 19 April, as the region’s biggest and best‑loved charity road runs return – featuring both the Coventry Half Marathon and Coventry 10K.
Organised by Jane Tomlinson’s Run For All, the festival will once again bring a day of community celebration to the city. Whether chasing a personal best, running with friends, or simply enjoying the occasion, participants can expect an electric atmosphere filled with encouragement, energy and support.
This year’s event is also expected to raise significant funds for local causes, with partner charities including Back & Forth, Cyrenians, Feed the Hungry, the Jane Tomlinson Appeal, University Hospitals Coventry & Warwickshire Charity, and Pawprints Dog Rescue.
Both races will start on Gosford Street, taking runners on routes through the city centre and surrounding areas before finishing close to the iconic Coventry Cathedral. The Half Marathon will set off at 9:00am, followed by the 10K at 9:30am.
Working in partnership with Coventry City Council, event organisers are advising runners, spectators, residents, businesses and visitors that several roads across the city will be closed or have restricted access to ensure the safety of everyone involved.
A small number of central roads will close early, from 4:00am, including B4554 Jordan Well, Cox Street, Gosford Street and Priory Street.
All remaining closures will come into effect from 8:00am, affecting routes such as B4544 Earl Street, Little Park Street, New Union Street, Warwick Road, Greyfriars Road, Queen Victoria Road, Corporation Street, Hales Street, Radford Road, Tamworth Road, Lawrence Saunders Road, Moseley Avenue, Ringway St Nicholas, Ringway Hill Cross, and a wider network of surrounding residential and connecting roads including Barker’s Butts Lane, Holyhead Road, Birmingham Road, Butcher’s Lane, Butt Lane, Washbrook Lane, Bridle Brook Lane, Wall Hill Road, Hollyfast Lane, Waste Lane, Brownshill Green Road, Coundon Green, Courtland Avenue, Hollyfast Road, Westhill Road, Kingsbury Road, Forfield Road, Fairfax Street, Donnington Avenue, Clayton Road, Southbank Road, Evenlode Crescent, Upper Well Street and Cedars Avenue.
In addition, parking suspensions will be in place from 6:00pm on Saturday 18 April until 1:00pm on Sunday 19 April to support the safe delivery of the event.
Event organisers, Run For All, will work hard to keep disruption to a minimum and ensure that road closures are lifted as soon as it is safe for runners, spectators and visitors.
Tristan Batley-Kyle, Operations Director at Jane Tomlinson’s Run For All: “We’re delighted to bring the Coventry Running Festival back to the city, with both the Half Marathon and 10K set to create a fantastic atmosphere for runners and spectators alike.
“While an event of this scale inevitably brings some disruption, we would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused.
“Our team will be working hard throughout the day to keep this to a minimum and ensure roads are reopened as soon as it is safe.”
