The McCain Yorkshire Coast Festival saw thousands of runner's line Scarborough’s scenic coastline. More than just a day of running, participants came together for a day of fundraising and community spirit, that will see funds donated to The Rainbow Centre, a local charity supporting those who are homeless, vulnerable or in crisis.
One of the region’s most popular running events every year, Jane Tomlinson’s Run For All were proud to deliver the event for the first time in 2025 in partnership with previous organisers, Scarborough Athletic Club. Participants got involved in the 10K, 5K and Fun Run editions on the day.
The scenic route attracts runners' year-on-year, with the route sending runners out along the coast, past local landmarks including Scarborough Castle and North Bay Beach before heading back to Scarborough SPA. Participants received fantastic support from start to finish, with the finish line a buzz of excitement as loved ones greeted runners making their way across the home stretch.
Not only did runners set new personal bests at the event but they also helped to raise important funds for a local charity, The Rainbow Centre. Run For All is pleased to share that £2,500 in donations from the McCain Yorkshire Festival will be donated to the charity, helping to support their essential services, and continuing the event’s support of the charity from previous years thanks to longstanding support from runners.
James Howard, Fundraising Officer at the Rainbow Centre said: "Everyone at The Rainbow Centre would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who contributed to the £2,500 donated. This will go a long way to helping us to continue working closely within our community, helping those who need help the most. Thank you".
The Rainbow Centre offers an open door to anyone in need of help with any issues they are facing, offering compassion, support and hope. Each year they make around 12,500 critical interventions, offering assistance to vulnerable people during their difficult circumstances.
Alice Liley, Partnerships Manager at Run For All said: “We’re thrilled to be able to continue the event’s support of The Rainbow Centre this year at the McCain Yorkshire Festival and hope that the donation will support the vital work that they do in the local community.
Thank you again to everyone who took part in the event and helped to create an incredible day on the Scarborough coastline.”
The McCain Yorkshire Coast Festival is an event for participants of all ages and abilities and highlighted the incredible communities from in and around the city, from running clubs, to schools and volunteers - it showcased the best of Scarborough and will return in 2026.
