Thousands of runners took to the streets of King’s Lynn on May 3rd for the annual Bespak GEAR 10K, an event that continues to make a real difference to the local community.
Delivered by Jane Tomlinson’s Run For All and proudly supported by title sponsor Bespak, the much-loved event attracted participants of all abilities. From experienced runners chasing personal bests on the fast and flat course, to those taking part in fancy dress or fundraising for causes close to their hearts, the day showcased the power of community spirit.
Alongside the main 10K race, the Bespak Mini GEAR event gave children and families the opportunity to get involved with a 1.9km course designed for all ages and abilities. The sold-out event saw hundreds cross the finish line, with every participant receiving a medal, goody bag, or water bottle to celebrate their achievement.
The event’s positive impact extended far beyond race day. In recognition of the incredible turnout for the Mini GEAR event, BESPAK awarded funding to local schools with the highest participation relative to their size. Clenchwarton Primary School will receive £1,100, Terrington St Clement Community School £800, and South Wootton Infant School £600 – funding that will directly support pupils and enhance school resources.
This support for education builds on an already successful day of fundraising. Runners were encouraged to raise money for charities of their choice or support the event’s partner charities, including the 8:56 Foundation, the Jane Tomlinson Appeal, Linnets in the Community, Mind Norfolk and Waveney, and WNDA.
The Bespak GEAR 10K continues to demonstrate how community events can give back in multiple ways – bringing people together, championing charitable causes, and investing in the next generation through direct support for local schools.
Tristan Batley-Kyle, Operations Director at Jane Tomlinson’s Run For All said: ‘Giving back to the communities we work in is at the heart of everything we do, and the Bespak GEAR 10K is a fantastic example of that in action. It was incredible to see so many people come together in King’s Lynn, not only to take on a personal challenge, but to raise vital funds for a wide range of charities.
“We’re particularly proud that the event also supports young people in the local area. Thanks to the generosity of our title sponsor Bespak, we’re able to provide meaningful funding to local schools, helping to create lasting benefits beyond race day.
“We’re extremely grateful to Bespak for their continued support, which enables us to deliver an event that brings communities together, champions important causes, and makes a real difference to people of all ages.”
