Usingh Bolt, a familiar face at many Run For All events, is tackling the Altra Yorkshire Marathon this October as part of his biggest running challenge yet.
For his ultimate running challenge, he has decided to take on fifty 50Ks in the lead up to his 50th birthday, with the first run taking part on his 49th birthday. But, this was not enough for Usingh - he decided to enter marathons in addition to his original challenge!
Having done the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon earlier in the year, Usingh will be taking part in the Yorkshire Marathon for one of his final runs before he turns 50 on the 1st of November to complete our Yorkshire Double challenge for the second time, having previously taken part in 2023.
For his final challenge, Usingh is raising money for the Teenage Cancer Trust, which works to fund specialist nurses, youth workers, and hospital units within the NHS, so that young people have access to dedicated staff and facilities to support them throughout their battles with cancer. Usingh works for Aldi, who are big supporters of the charity:
"...Running for them was a natural fit."
"For my last big challenge, I want to raise as much money as I can for this amazing charity. The work they do to support those with cancer in their teenage years, which are not easy at the best of times, is incredible."
Usingh has run many challenges for many causes, such as running 31 marathons in 31 days in 2021, and running 4,602 miles in 2023, but none as impressive as this one.
"This one has proven to be a little tougher due to the short time to recover, and not to forget the great British weather. Local flooding, torrential rain, freezing fog, snow and ice, heat and humidity. It's been quite the challenge in all weather, but I'm hoping autumn for Yorkshire on the 19th October will be kinder!"
Although originally getting into running to improve his fitness and lose weight, Usingh got swept into the buzz of the running community, and decided to try and make a difference with his running.
"I really got into it, and using running to try and make a difference has become my great motivation. I can't change the world, but I hope I can change some people's world for the better."
