George was diagnosed with leukaemia in 2013 when he was just two-and-a-half years old. Overnight, life changed dramatically for George and his family as he began three-and-a-half years of treatment at Leeds General Infirmary.
Throughout his treatment, George faced numerous challenges, including repeated chest infections and shingles on nine separate occasions. During this incredibly difficult period, Candlelighters provided vital support to George and his family, helping them navigate the emotional and practical realities of childhood cancer.
Now, almost 13 years later, George is in remission and looking to give back to the charity that supported him when he needed it most. Determined to help other children and families facing cancer, he has become a passionate supporter and fundraiser for Candlelighters.
Since 2014, George and his family have taken on a range of fundraising events and challenges, raising an incredible £55,000 for the charity.
George said: "I’ve started taking on challenges and fundraising for Candlelighters because I know first-hand how important their work is for children with cancer and their families. The support they provide makes such a difference during an incredibly difficult time."
George and his family are now looking forward to taking part in the Arla Protein York 10K in his home city of York.
