Kate will be taking on the Lincoln Half Marathon as part of her journey to complete 100 half marathons!
Kate took up running over a decade ago after joining the gym and signing up to a 5K. This quickly became much longer distances as running became a passion and an important part of her life.
“Each step taken, from that first 5k to ultra’s have all been lessons of perseverance.”
Running has helped Kate to adapt and cope with whatever life may present - as a single parent, there have been many uncertain and difficult times and running allowed her to clear her head, as well as meet a community of like-minded people to build connections.
“Running has helped me find a sense of belonging and without a doubt has helped me focus on the positives in life when the path ahead has been unclear. Running has been my lifeline.”
For Kate, running is not just about the time on the clock, it’s a chance to celebrate her journey forward, and share her passion with her son.
“It's also been incredibly rewarding to see my son get into running, even putting me to shame by beating me at Parkrun! His passion further fuels my own and I am looking forward to supporting him in his first half-marathon."
After getting back into running during the pandemic in 2022, Kate set herself the challenge of running 100 half marathons. At that point, she had already completed five, and has since completed a further 17, so the 2025 Lincoln Half Marathon will mark her 23rd half marathon on her journey to 100!
“The times when I've doubted myself, or had a bad race, as in life, it has taught me to accept that not every day will be perfect, and I value the learnings from setbacks to come back stronger. Running reminds me that I am strong, and able to navigate complex terrains, both on the road and in life.”
