Claire has continued to battle with her health since she was treated for Hodgkins Lymphoma, but that hasn’t stopped her from running, and she will be taking on the Lincoln Half Marathon in October.
In July 2006, Claire and her family received the news that she had Hodgkins Lymphoma and had likely had it for years without realising. From then on, she was at hospital every week for treatment.
“To say this came as a shock was an understatement, my world was completely turned upside down.”
Her family supported her through her toughest days, and she always prioritised spending time with her daughters and getting outside when she was able.
“Even on my worst days I knew there was at least somebody I could ring.”
Despite being 9 years post-chemo, in 2016, Claire suffered an anaphylactic reaction and underwent life-saving surgery which left her with Crohn’s disease.
Throughout it all, Claire has welcomed grandchildren and continued to run for cancer charities, even completing the London Marathon in 2021 and is now a Cancer Rehabilitation Specialist in Exercise.
“I still struggle some days but every day is a day to make memories and that is what I try to do.”
