This year, Nicola Robinson is proud to be running the Hull 10K in support of Aim Higher, a local charity dedicated to improving the lives of neurodivergent families across Hull and East Riding. The team of 30 runners, led by Gill Jagger—Co-Founder of Aim Higher—are running to raise awareness and vital funds to continue providing much-needed support to those often overlooked by traditional services.
Aim Higher was founded in 2016 by Nicola Robinson and Gill Jagger, both parents of children diagnosed with autism. From their own challenging experiences navigating inadequate support systems, they were inspired to create a charity by families, for families—a place where lived experience drives meaningful change.
Raising a neurodivergent child can be incredibly isolating. Aim Higher works to prevent social exclusion and promote social inclusion, not just for children and young adults with autism or mental health conditions, but for their entire families.
They do this through:
•Educational workshops and forums
•Advocacy for educational needs and mental health in crisis
•Empowering parents and caregivers through training and peer support
•Organising recreational and leisure activities tailored to individual needs
•Supporting children, young people, and their families up to the age of 25
"Every step we take is for the families who often feel unheard, unsupported, or left behind."
With your help, they can continue:
• Offering safe, inclusive activities for children (verbal and non-verbal alike)
• Guiding families through education, health, and social care systems
• Providing emotional and practical support when it’s needed most
They ask that you please consider supporting their team as they run the Hull 10K—not just for the challenge, but for a cause that truly changes lives.
