Student Eve Runs Yorkshire Marathon for York Neighbour

Student Eve is running this year's Altra Yorkshire Marathon for York Neighbours at only 19 years old.

Eve first started running in 2024 during the build-up to her A-level exams, finding it a great way to clear her head and de-stress.

She first heard about York Neighbours late last year when her mum began volunteering for the charity. York Neighbours supports older people in the local community, working to promote independence and prevent isolation through social events, phone calls, practical support, and more.

When Eve heard that they were looking for runners to represent them in this year's Yorkshire Marathon, she couldn't turn it down.

"This was an opportunity I couldn't afford to miss."

She is currently almost halfway through her marathon training, all the while keeping her grandma in her thoughts.

"I am running for my grandma, who always supported me in my running, but also for all the people who York Neighbours continue to help."
