Liv, Joshua and George are running this year's York 10K in memory of their Auntie Melanie, lost in 2024, and their Nanna Averil, who passed in January of this year.
Sister Liv says:
"...we are three of the most unlikely runners, but despite our lack of experience, we are lacing up our running shoes and taking on this 10K as a way of remembering two of the dearest women in our lives."
Fundraising for the UK Sepsis Trust, they aim to raise awareness of the silent killer that is sepsis after seeing its devastating impact on their own family in the hope that their fundraising can support research, early diagnosis, and better care for those at risk.
"The most difficult thing to learn from our experience of this condition is how suddenly it strikes. Unfortunately, our hospitals are just not educated or set up well enough to support rapid diagnosis and treatment to prevent escalation of the illness to fatality."
The three are running to honour the memory of their family members who they have lost, including their Grandpa who unfortunately passed away recently.
"There's no doubt they will be cheering us on up there, probably laughing at us too, but mostly we know they will be proud as punch of us for taking this run on...They were the heart of our family, always giving, always caring - this one is for them!"
