Michelle is part of a small but mighty running group called Get Off Your Bum and Run – a community of women who decided that fitness shouldn’t be intimidating, isolating, or something eternally postponed until “next Monday.”Instead, they meet each week with one simple mission: as Michelle puts it, “to lift each other up, share a laugh, and most importantly – get off our bums and run.”The Coventry 10k will be their first official group entry, and for many of the women, it will be their first-ever race. It marks a milestone they once thought was out of reach.“Some of the ladies used to say, ‘I can’t run,’” Michelle said. “Now they’re proving to themselves that they absolutely can. Watching that transformation has been incredible.”Like many runners, they’ve found that training in a group has been a complete game-changer.“It’s not just about the fitness – though stronger legs, clearer minds and steadier lungs are definitely a bonus,” Michelle explained. “It’s the friendship, the accountability, and the feeling that no matter how tough the week has been, you’ve got people waiting for you who want to see you win.”For the group, taking on the Coventry 10k represents far more than the miles ahead.
“This race stands for courage, consistency and community – and for the belief that everything feels easier when you don’t do it alone,” Michelle said. The women are excited to take on their first race side by side, ready to grow as runners together.Organisers of the Coventry Running Festival, Run For All are delighted the group has chosen the Coventry 10k for their debut and wish them all the very best on race day.
