As South Yorkshire’s largest half marathon returns to the streets of Sheffield, anticipation is building for another strong show of local sport and community spirit. The much-loved event will once again welcome thousands of runners, joggers, and walkers of all ages and abilities as they take on the scenic, challenging but rewarding route.
And as ever, the particpants won’t be alone. Families, friends and whole neighbourhoods are expected to line the course, creating an encouraging atmosphere and cheering on everyone taking part.
Organisers Run For All are committed to ensuring every participant feels supported on the day, whatever their reason for taking part. Thousands will be running, jogging, or walking for causes and motivations close to their hearts, contributing to the event’s strong community feel. Here are just a handful of the many individuals and groups taking on this year’s challenge:
· 48 runners from Sheffield University Dental School, taking on the half marathon in aid of The Swallows Head & Neck Cancer Support Group.
· Teresa, completing the final mile of a 100-mile tribute to her daughter Gemma, finishing her journey at the Sheffield Half Marathon finish line.
· Aston Chasers, running in memory of their teammate Sarah and raising funds for Rotherham Hospice.
· Niall Guite, Special Olympics GB athlete, who is tackling both the Sheffield Half Marathon and the London Marathon.
· Nicholas Bromley, marking an impressive milestone as he takes part in his 20th Sheffield Half Marathon.
· Louisa and Joshua, newlyweds running just two days after tying the knot.
Organisers Jane Tomlinson’s Run For All say they are delighted to welcome every participant and spectator to this standout fixture in the UK running calendar.
As always, the event is expected to raise thousands of pounds for charities, including partner charities: Element Society, Framework, Jane Tomlinson Appeal, Paces, Rain Rescue, Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity, Sheffield Futures, St Luke’s, We Are Haven, and Whirlow Hall Farm Trust, alongside many other charities chosen by participants.
Run For All extends its thanks to the sponsors and partners who help make the event possible, including Sheffield City Council, Erdinger, Arla Protein, Applied Nutrition, Up & Running, Coopah, Shokz, Gradwell, Marathon Photos, and Jog ON.
