Thousands of participants of all ages and abilities triumphed in Lincoln this morning, to cross the finish line at Run For All’s first ever Lincoln Half Marathon and raise thousands for charitable causes.
Participants, spectators and volunteers took to the historic streets of Lincoln for a day centred around running, fundraising and community spirit. The day was a huge success, with participants raising thousands of pounds for charity, many chose to run for personal causes, others for the event’s official partner charities, but all with a goal to make a difference to others.
Kicking off at 09:30, participants set off from the Lincolnshire Showground on the scenic route via some of Lincoln’s iconic landmarks, including the Lincoln Castle and Cathedral, as well as the University of Lincoln before heading back to the Showground to cross the finish line and receive their well-earned medal.
In the results, the first male to cross the line, and the race winner, was Samuel Roberts with a time of 01:08:06. William Strangeway claimed second place with a time of 01:09:32, with Lee Mullen securing third place with 01:14:45.
The first female runner to cross the finish line was Charlotte Knowles with a time of 01:18:43, followed by Abby Watson in second place with a time of 01:29:32, and Amy Cragg in third with a time of 01:30:52.
But the real winners were the many local and national charities, who will benefit from the efforts of the many people who took part, raising thousands of pounds in the process and making a vital difference.
Participants were encouraged to fundraise for one of the event’s official partner charities: Acts Trust, Carers First, Framework, the Jane Tomlinson Appeal, Jerry Green Dog Rescue, Lincolnshire Action Trust, Lincoln City Foundation, Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance, LIVES, RSPCA – Lincs Mid, North East & Lincoln Branch.
More than just a day of running, the day also highlighted the incredible communities in and around the City of Lincoln, from running clubs, volunteer’s and schools, with all areas showing their support.
Hosted by Run For All for the first time, runners from Lincoln and beyond enjoyed the new challenge of a half marathon distance, a step up from the City of Lincoln 10K, also a Run For All event.
Tristan Batley-Kyle, Operations Director at Run For All said: “A huge well done to all participants who joined us for today’s Lincoln Half Marathon, a new addition to the Run For All calendar this year and a great success.
The enthusiasm and support from participants, volunteers and spectators across the City of Lincoln throughout the day ensured today was enjoyed by all, and saw participants raise thousands for local charities.”
The Lincoln Half Marathon is supported by City of Lincoln Council, Arla Protein, BBC Radio Lincolnshire, Coopah, Gradwell, High5, JogOn, Lincoln Private Hospital, Marathon Photos Live, Project Servator, John Pocklington & Son, Shokz, and Up & Running.
