As the big day get’s closer, another one of our Yorkshire Marathon Legends has shared their insights into race day.
Read on to learn about Adi Gunn’s advice, along with what to do the day before the big day.
When did you start running?
“I started running in January 2013 as a new year resolution to keep fit over the winter”.
What made you sign up for the first Yorkshire Marathon?
“In January 2013 I heard the marathon announced on Radio York and decided it would be a good and ambitious target to aim for”.
What do you do the day before a marathon?
“I used to keep that day to be fairly restful but since I have been doing my run streak, I usually do the local parkrun as a “shake out””.
What would be your piece of advice for first time marathon runners?
“To just enjoy the day and take all the feelings in of accomplishing something you thought wasn’t possible”.
What do you treat yourself with after a race?
“A nice cold beer and a pizza”!
How do you fuel yourself during a race?
“I use gels every 4 miles or so and electrolyte drink around 16 miles”.
What’s your must have running song?
“Anything with a bit of Take That”.
How does running added to your day to day life?
“It’s part of every day since doing a run streak since 20 march 2020, something to look forward to each day and get some fresh air”.
What’s your favourite Yorkshire Marathon memory?
“Finishing my first sub 3 marathon at York in 2016 with my dad at the finish line pumping his fist in the air. A day which I have being proud of and stays with me for life”.
