Ryan is taking part in this year's Altra Yorkshire Marathon to raise money and awareness for endometriosis after his wife has suffered with the condition.
Endometriosis is a chronic illness affecting 1 in 10 women, causing intense pain, fatigue, infertility, and a host of other debilitating symptoms. However, despite its profound impact on sufferers' lives, it takes on average 7-10 years to get it diagnosed in the UK.
"I have seen my wife endure the pain and frustration of this disease for over a decade. From countless GPs refusing the acknowledge endometriosis, constant battling for diagnosis, and eventual surgeries to treat the disease."
Too often endometriosis is misunderstood, dismissed, or misdiagnosed - that's why Ryan is running to raise money for Endometriosis UK, the UK's leading charity for those affected by the disease. They believe in a world where endometriosis is recognised and understood, and where the disease does not limit people's lives. They work to campaign for more awareness, and to provide support for those who suffer with the condition.
