Sheridann is running the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon with us this May to raise money for the Ricky Hatton Foundation in memory of his hero who helped him through a difficult time in his life.
While Sheridann has lived with mental health issues for as long as he can remember, he was more recently diagnosed with bipolar disorder.
"For much of my life, I struggled silently, trying to cope while everything around me slowly fell apart."
He describes the last 18 months of his life as his darkest period as, after his engagement broke down and he lost his job, Sheridann turned to drugs and spiraled into addiction.
"I became dangerously unwell, both mentally and physically...During 2025 alone, I attempted to take my own life multiple times. I was at rock bottom."
When Sheridann was diagnosed with liver damage, that was the moment that he realized that everything had to stop.
He began rebuilding his life by getting back into boxing, which is how he found the Ricky Hatton Foundation.
"Ricky represented resilience, honesty, and the courage to keep fighting, both inside and outside the ring, His influence saved me at a time when I desperately needed it, and he will always be in my heart and mind."
Taking part in the Leeds Marathon is part of his journey of redemption, as he shares his story to inspire others who are struggling with their mental or physical health.
"I've had more than my fair share of people try to bring me down, but this isn't about them. It's about helping others who are suffering, showing that the bad days don't last forever, and that recovery is possible."
"Run for mental health awareness, hope, and for Ricky."
