Toby Honours Nana Valerie at Yorkshire Marathon

Toby is running the Yorkshire Marathon this October in memory of his Nana Valerie Hey, and to raise vital funds for Overgate Hospice. The Yorkshire Marathon will be Toby’s first Marathon and has become about more than just running.

“It’s a challenge I never thought I’d be preparing for, but one that now feels deeply personal and meaningful.”

Toby’s Nana Valerie was a kind, caring and loving presence to all in their family, and was always there with words of wisdom and advice, whenever anyone needed it.

The support that the family received from Overgate Hospice during an incredibly difficult time, made an overwhelming difference.

“The staff showed not only compassion towards my Nana but also extended such kindness and understanding to our whole family.”

“That care is something I will always be grateful for, and it’s the reason I am determined to give back.”

Toby is running the Altra Yorkshire Marathon to fundraise for Overgate Hospice so that it can continue to provide support to other families going through the most difficult of times.

“Every donation, whether large or small, will directly help them continue their work, offering comfort, dignity and compassion to people at then of life, and strength and reassurance to the families by their side.”
