Organisers of the Leeds 10K, Jane Tomlinson’s Run For All, have announced a series of temporary road closures and access restrictions across the city ahead of this year’s event on Sunday 14 June 2026.
The measures are designed to ensure the safety of the thousands of runners, volunteers and spectators expected to attend one of the region’s biggest and most popular charity road races.
The much-loved event will welcome participants of all ages and abilities, with the day featuring the Leeds 10K, the Corporate Challenge, and Mini and Junior runs.
The Leeds 10K continues to hold a special place in the heart of the city and within Run For All, as the first event in the organisation’s portfolio. While battling terminal cancer, Jane Tomlinson founded the Leeds 10K, raising more than £1.8 million for charity and creating an event that continues to drive fundraising year after year.
The race will begin at 09:00 outside the University of Leeds’ Parkinson Steps. Runners will follow a scenic route through the city centre and Hyde Park, heading out towards Headingley – passing landmarks including AMT Headingley Stadium – before returning to a finish on The Headrow, set against the backdrop of Leeds Art Gallery.
To support the safe delivery of the event, a number of road closures and parking suspensions will be put in place.
Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders, including parking suspensions on Blenheim Terrace, Grove Road and Calverley Street, will be in effect from 18:00 on Saturday 13 June until 15:00 on Sunday 14 June.
Roads around the start and finish areas will close from 04:00 on race day. These include Blenheim Terrace/Woodhouse Lane, Cavendish Road, Cookridge Street, Great George Street, Hilary Place/Vernon Road, Calverley Street, The Headrow, Park Row and Upper Basinghall Street. Roads near the start will reopen from 12:00, while finish area closures will remain in place until 15:00.
Additional road closures along the race route will come into force from 08:00. Affected roads include Woodhouse Lane, Moorland Road, Clarendon Road, Rampart Road, Woodhouse Street, Headingley Lane, Otley Road, Shaw Lane, Monk Bridge Road, Grove Road, Grove Lane, Meanwood Road, Oatland Road, Oatland Lane, Lovell Park Road, Wade Lane, Hyde Park Road, Merrion Street, Albion Street and The Headrow.
These closures will be lifted on a rolling basis, with roads reopening between approximately 10:30 and 11:45, with the final route closures removed by 11:45.
Residents, businesses and visitors are encouraged to plan ahead and allow extra time for journeys.
