Shannon is lacing up her running shoes for the Lincoln 10K to raise vital funds for Memory Matters, a community group based at the Trinity Centre in Louth.
Memory Matters supports people living with dementia and memory problems, along with older residents who may be lonely, living alone, or simply looking for companionship later in life. It offers a safe, welcoming space where people can meet weekly to take part in activities, build friendships, and experience a true sense of belonging.
For Shannon, the cause is personal. The group played an important role in her grandmother Doris’s life before she sadly passed away, and it continues to support her grandad, David – giving him comfort, routine, and genuine happiness.
“Seeing the joy it brings to him, and to so many others, is incredibly heart‑warming,” she said.
Shannon recognises that Memory Matters may not be a large or well‑known charity, but she knows first‑hand just how profound its impact can be. She hopes her fundraising will shine a light on the amazing work it does and encourage others to support the community it serves.
“It offers huge reassurance to families like mine,” she added, “knowing our loved ones are surrounded by kindness and belonging.”
