Imogen is running the Bury 10K this September with her best friend Mia, who has been living with Bell's Palsy for the last eight years.
Bell's Palsy is a condition that causes weakness or paralysis of the muscles on one side of the face as a result of damage to the facial nerves. The two friends are running to raise money for Facial Palsy UK to help fund the support that the charity provides for those struggling with the condition.
"As you can imagine, in a world where appearance is so highly valued, this can make someone feel isolated and insecure. It's a condition that only an incredibly strong person can endure."
"For me, her Bell's Palsy was never an issue. Her vibrant personality and natural beauty shone brighter than anything else. But, for Mia, it's something she faces every day. She's spent years fighting for herself, hoping for even a little relief, but that relief has never come."
Imogen isn't running to achieve a good time or keep a fast pace, but rather to spread awareness of the condition, and to give back to Mia, whose friendship she values so much.
"I'm incredibly proud to be called her friend, and I'm honoured to run for her and everyone else who lives with Facial Palsy."
"She inspires me every day. I'm so grateful that she will be running by my side, spreading awareness and support for everyone affected."
