Run For All are excited to announce a brand new distance in addition to the Asda Foundation Derby Half Marathon in 2020.
Set to take place on Sunday 7th June, runners can now choose between a half marathon and a 5-mile distance. The brand new distance aims to attract runners of all ages and abilities to the city centre to encourage an even greater boost for charities and offer a fun and friendly route to inspire more people in getting active for 2020.
2019 saw the Derby Half Marathon change route and introduce a city centre start and finish, which created fantastic community atmosphere as thousands turned out to run and support their loved ones. Following the overwhelming support, Run For All are delighted to bring the region a new challenge and expand its offering.
The 5-mile distance features the same start and finish at the half marathon and will set off from Iron Gate. It will take runners on the same route as the half marathon distance, running through the city centre for the first 2 miles. Shortly after 2 miles, runners will then make their way towards Derby County’s Pride Park Stadium and head back towards the city centre, finishing where the journey began, at Iron Gate.
Tristan Batley-Kyle, Head of Events at Run For All said: “Seeing the fantastic turn out and feedback from the 2019 Derby Half Marathon we are thrilled to be able to offer even more runners a new challenge for them to be a part of. Whether runners want to take on the full 13.1 miles or want to rally their friends together for a fun five miles, we’re looking forward to getting the community together and raising money for some amazing causes.”
Runners can raise money for any charity they wish or work with one of the partnered charities at the event – Jane Tomlinson Appeal, Annabel’s Angels, Children First, First Steps and Rainbows Hospice.
For those wanting to be a part of the 5 Mile distance you must be 15 years or over to enter, and for those wanting to tackle the half marathon, you must be 17 years or older.
You can snap up a place in the Asda Foundation Derby 5 Mile for just £20 plus processing fee until midnight Friday 31st January 2020 https://derby5m2020.eventdesq.com
