Thousands of runners will descend on Derby on Sunday 28th June for the return of the city’s biggest half marathon road running event, Ramathon, alongside the popular RAM 5 Mile.
Athletes of all ages and abilities will lace up their trainers to take part in what has become a firm favourite on the region’s running calendar. They will be joined by hundreds of supporters and volunteers lining the streets, helping to create an inspiring atmosphere.
The event is expected to raise tens of thousands of pounds for a range of good causes, including official partner charities Derbyshire Cricket Foundation, Family Support Derbyshire, the Jane Tomlinson Appeal, My Aware, and Over the Wall.
Organised by Jane Tomlinson’s Run For All, organisers are advising runners, spectators, residents and visitors that a number of city roads will be closed or have restricted access to ensure the safety of all involved.
Starting and finishing on Full Street near Derby Cathedral, the Ramathon will get underway at 09.15. The route takes runners past some of Derby’s most iconic landmarks, including the Florence Nightingale monument, Elvaston Castle, and Pride Park Stadium.
The RAM 5 Mile will follow shortly after at 09.30, sharing the same start and finish line. The route heads through the city centre towards Pride Park Stadium before looping back to the finish.
To facilitate the event, road closures, junction restrictions and temporary Traffic Regulation Orders will be in place between 18.00 on Saturday 27th June and 16.00 on Sunday 28th June 2026.
Closures beginning from 04.00 will include Full Street and Sowter Road. From 08.15, further roads affected include A6 Pride Parkway, Albert Street, Babington Lane, Bold Lane, Bradshaw Way, Cathedral Road, Corporation Street, Cheapside, Derwent Parade, Derwent Street, Jury Street, London Road, Moreledge, Osmaston Road, Queen Street, Riverside Road, Royal Way, Shardlow Road, St Peter’s Street, The Strand, Victoria Street, and Walker Lane.
Additional closures will come into effect from 09.00, including Blue Peter Roundabout, Pride Parkway Roundabout, Texaco Roundabout and Traffic Street.
Residents and visitors are encouraged to plan their journeys in advance. Full details of all road closures and traffic restrictions can be found at: 2026-ramathon-road-closure-poster-3.pdf
Tristan Batley- Kyle, Operations Director at Run For All said: ‘As with many major running events, some road closures are necessary to ensure the safety of participants and spectators.
‘Our team will work hard to lift closures as soon as it is safe to do so, and we apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused.
‘We look forward to raising funds for charity and bringing the community together for what promises to be a fantastic day.’
