Road closures announced ahead of the 2026 Arla Protein York 10K

Runners of all ages and abilities will take to the historic streets of York on Sunday 2nd August for one of the region’s most popular charity road races, the Arla Protein York 10K, alongside the York Mini and Junior races.

Starting at 9.30am, the scenic 10K route will showcase some of York's most iconic landmarks, including York Racecourse, the city walls, Clifford's Tower and York Minster. Younger runners will have their opportunity to shine later in the day, with the Junior and Mini races starting at 12 noon and 12.30pm respectively.

To support the safe delivery of the event, a number of temporary road closures and parking restrictions will be in place across the city.

The first closures will come into effect from 12 noon on Saturday 1 August, when Knavesmire Road, between its junctions with Tadcaster Road and Campleshon Road, and Knavesmire Crescent will close until approximately 3pm on Sunday 2nd August.

Additional road closures will be introduced on race day. Racecourse Road and Campleshon Road will close from 5am, followed by Bishopthorpe Road from 7.30am.

From 8.30am, further closures will be in place on Bishopgate Street, Nunnery Lane, Blake Street, Bridge Street, Butcher Terrace, Castlegate, Church Street, Clementhorpe, Clifford Street, Coppergate, Coney Street, Cumberland Street, Deangate, Duncombe Place, Fetter Lane, Goodramgate, King’s Staith, Micklegate, Minster Yard, Nessgate, Pavement, Parliament Street, Priory Street, Skeldergate, Spurrier Gate, St Helen’s Square, and Terry Avenue.

Residents and visitors are advised to plan their journeys in advance and allow extra time for travel while the event is taking place.
