The countdown is officially on for the return of the Larking Gowen Ipswich Half Marathon on Sunday 27th September, when thousands of runners will take on the iconic 13.1 mile challenge through the heart of the town.
Participants of all ages and abilities will once again line up at the start, joined by hundreds of spectators and volunteers who help create the electric atmosphere that has become synonymous with race day.
Starting at 09.30am, runners will set off from the home of Ipswich Town FC, Portman Road Stadium, before taking in some of the town’s most recognisble landmarks, including Holywells Park, Ipswich Waterfront and the River Orwell. Participants will then make their way back to the stadium for a memorable finish.
Adding to the excitement, businesses, organisations, and community groups are being encouraged to enter the Larking Gowen Corporate Challenge. Open to colleagues, friends, family members and teammates, the challenge runs alongside the main event but focuses on teamwork rather than individual performance. Team standings are determined by the fastest combined finish times, with entrants also benefiting from a premium package that includes a range of additional perks and incentives.
“The Corporate Challenge is a great way to foster some friendly competition as part of the day” says Becky Ames from sponsor Larking Gowen “We look forward to cheering all the runners on, and getting to meet the winners of the challenge”
While the event is a celebration of fitness, wellbeing and community spirit, fundraising remains at its heart. Every year, participants raise thousands of pounds for causes that matter to them, helping to make a real difference to charities across the region and beyond.
Runners are encouraged to support a charity of their choice or one of the event’s official partner charities: Autism Anglia, Ending life’s taboo’s, Ipswich Town Foundation, Jane Tomlinson Appeal, Lighthouse, Ormiston Families, St Elizabeth’s Hospice, RSPCA Suffolk, and Mind Suffolk.
As with all Run For All events, the Larking Gowen Ipswich Half Marathon welcomes participants of every age and ability, whether they are experienced runners chasing a personal best or first-timers taking on a new challenge. With enthusiastic crowd support and a vibrant race-day atmosphere, the event promises an unforgettable experience for everyone involved.
Tristan Batley-Kyle, Operations Director at Run For All said: "We are looking forward to welcoming runners of all ages and abilities to the start line of the Larking Gowen Ipswich Half Marathon, which is always a fantastic day for the local community.
"Whether participants are running for fun, fundraising for a cause close to their heart, or aiming for a personal best, we wish them the very best of luck and hope they enjoy every moment of their race-day experience. We would also like to thank Larking Gowen for their continued support in helping make this event possible."
