Thousands of runners, volunteers and spectators came together in Lincoln today as the Lincoln Half Marathon returned for the second year, creating a fantastic day of achievement, fundraising and community spirit.
Setting off from Lincolnshire Showground at 9.30am, participants took on the popular route through the historic city, passing some of Lincoln's most iconic landmarks, including Lincoln Castle, Lincoln Cathedral and the University of Lincoln, before returning to the Showground for a memorable finish and a well-earned medal.
The event welcomed runners of all ages and abilities, from first-time half marathon participants to experienced athletes chasing personal bests, with enthusiastic support lining the route from start to finish.
There were also some outstanding sporting performances throughout the morning. In the men's race, Tom Straw claimed victory in a time of 01:10:32. Jensen Windsor secured second place with 01:11:44, while Shane Robinson completed the podium in 01:14:12.
The women's race saw Charlotte Knowles take the top spot in 01:17:38, followed by Megan Brewer in second place with 01:24:34 and Amanda Spencer in third with 01:31:03.
Alongside the athletic achievements, the event once again demonstrated the power of running to make a positive difference. Participants were encouraged to raise funds for causes close to their hearts or support one of the event's partner charities, including Carers First, Lincoln City Foundation, Framework, Jerry Green Dog Rescue, Jane Tomlinson Appeal, Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance, Lincolnshire Action Trust, LIVES and the RSPCA.
Tristan Batley-Kyle, Operations Director at Run For All said: "Congratulations to everyone who took part in this year's Lincoln Half Marathon. Whether participants were aiming for a personal best, completing their first half marathon or fundraising for a cause close to their heart, every runner should be incredibly proud of their achievement."
"The atmosphere throughout the day has been fantastic, and that's thanks to the incredible support of our volunteers, spectators, sponsors, partners and charity partners. Together, they've helped create a memorable event that not only inspires people to get active, but also raises vital funds for important causes across the region and beyond."
