Thousands of runners, spectators and volunteers filled the streets of Derby this morning as the much-loved Ramathon and Ram 5 Mile events made a triumphant return.
Delivered by Jane Tomlinson’s Run For All, the hugely popular event once again brought together a wide range of participants – from seasoned athletes, to first-time runners, charity fundraisers and those simply looking to be part of a community occasion.
The Ramathon got underway at 9.15am, as runners set off on a scenic half marathon route showcasing some of Derby’s most iconic landmarks, including the Florence Nightingale statue, Elvaston Castle, and Pride Park Stadium.
In the men’s race, Samuel stormed to victory, crossing the finish line first in a time of 01:08:42. He was followed by Joe in second place with a time of 01:11:03, while Jonathan completed the podium in third with 01:15:09.
The women’s race delivered equally impressive performances, with Emily claiming first place in 01:23:01. Second place went to Laura in a time of 01:24:02, while Anna secured third in 01:25:17.
In the 5 Mile event, the men’s title was claimed by Robbie in 00:28:05, ahead of Namir in 00:28:10, while Luke finished in third in 00:28:22.
The women’s 5 Mile race saw Georgina take victory in 00:30:24, followed by Lynne in second place with 00:32:45, and Hannah completing top three in 00:34:07.
Alongside these outstanding athletic performances, the event once again proved a major success for charity fundraising – a core objective of Run For All. Participants raised vital funds for a range of good causes, including partner charities Derbyshire Cricket Foundation, Family Support Derbyshire, Jane Tomlinson Appeal, My Aware, and Over the Wall.
Tristan Batley-Kyle, Operations Director at Run For All said:
“The Ramathon and Ram 5 Mile are always fantastic events, and this year was no exception. We were delighted to welcome thousands of runners, each with their own motivation – from first-timers and experienced athletes, to those raising vital funds for charity.
“A huge thank you goes to all the volunteers and spectators who created such an incredible atmosphere, and congratulations to every runner who took part.”
"For those keen to do it all over again, or inspired by watching others, discounted tickets are available until Tuesday at midnight."
