Thousands of runners will take to the streets of Leeds on Sunday 10 May, as the city welcomes the return of the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon, alongside Leeds Half Marathon and the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon Relay in partnership with Clarion.
Delivered by Jane Tomlinson’s Run For All in partnership with Leeds City Council, the events represent Yorkshire’s biggest running weekend and are expected to attract participants and spectators from across the country.
Both the marathon and half marathon will start and finish at AMT Headingley Stadium – a fitting location in the city where Rob Burrow’s rugby league career was launched and which he proudly called home. The marathon will begin at 9.00am, followed by the half marathon at 10.00am.
The iconic and challenging marathon route showcases the very best of Leeds, winding through the vibrant streets of Headingley, out to the market town of Otley and its surrounding countryside, before returning for a memorable finish at Headingley Stadium. Along the way, runners will experience a blend of diverse neighbourhoods and stunning scenery. Half Marathon participants will follow the same route initially, before looping back on Leeds Road, rather than continuing through to Otley.
In partnership with Leeds City Council, event organisers Run For All are advising runners, spectators, residents and visitors that a number of road closures and restrictions will be in place to ensure the event can be delivered safely.
Road closures will begin from 4.00am around the start and finish area on St Michael’s Lane and Newport View, with these roads reopening no later than 6.30pm.
Initial closures on Cardigan Road and Kirkstall Lane / North Lane will come into force from 6.00am and reopen by 5.30pm. Closures around Headingley and the city centre will be implemented from 7.30am, with roads reopening from 11.30am.
Closures on Otley Road will be introduced between 8.00am and 8.30am up to Lawnswood Roundabout, reopening by 4.45pm, and up to New Pool Bank Road, reopening by 4.20pm.
Roads around Eccup Lane and Arthington Road will close from 8.30am and reopen by 12.30pm.
Final route closures through Pool and Otley, including Otley town centre, Leeds Road (A660) and Pool Road (A659), will come into force from 9.00am and reopen on a rolling basis between 1.30pm and 3.15pm.

The event will also require a number of parking suspensions along the route, including but not limited to: St Michael’s Lane, Newport View, Cardigan Road, St Ann’s Lane, Wood Lane, Cattle Market Street, Beechwood Crescent, Kirkstall Lane, North Lane, Portland Crescent, Portland Gate, Grove Lane, Shaw Lane, Moor Road, King Lane, Adel Lane, Estcourt Terrace and Creskeld Lane, from 4.00pm on Saturday 9th May until 6.30pm on Sunday 10 May.
Please note that tow operations will be in place around St Michael’s Lane.
A number of travel services will be available across the city for both participants and spectators on event day.

Tristan Batley-Kyle, Operations Director at Run For All said: “We’re looking forward to welcoming thousands of people to the streets of Leeds for these fantastic events, which will raise vital funds for charity and celebrate Rob Burrow’s incredible legacy.
“For an event of this scale, significant road closures are unavoidable. We are working closely with Leeds City Council, highways teams, emergency services and multi‑agency partners to ensure the event is delivered safely and securely.
“We would like to thank residents and businesses in advance for their understanding and apologise for any inconvenience caused. Every effort will be made to reopen roads as quickly as possible.”
