If you need some motivation to sign up to a Half Marathon this year, look no further than Ashley Bond.
Ashley will be completing ten challenges in 2022, including the Sheffield Half Marathon and Leeds Half Marathon, in order to raise vital funds for Leukameia Care, a charity very close to his heart. In April 2021, Ashley’s Dad became very ill and unfortunately was diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukamia (CML), a form of blood cancer which he will live with for life.
Ashley discovered that every 20 minutes, someone in the UK is diagnosed with a blood cancer, the fifth most common cancer in the UK.
Following on from the back of this and his Dad's diagnosis, Ashley started to think about what he could do to help. With this in mind, he has decided to take on ten challenges, to help turn families shock and anguish into a positive one. And to hopefully enable Leukaemia care to offer the much needed support, wellness, and funding to other families and individuals who face similar situations.
Other challenges which Ashely will be completing include jumping out of a plane, a twelve-hour trek, and a Guinness World Record attempt and many more. In turn, Ashley is aiming to raise those vital funds for those in need.
Ashley will be taking part in the Sheffield Half Marathon on Sunday 27th March and the Leeds Half Marathon on Sunday 8th May.
