Andrew ran the York 10K this weekend with brother Steven to raise money for the Leveson Centre, funded by York Against Cancer.
The centre supported their Dad, Paul, following his diagnosis of terminal stomach cancer in 2023. However, he continues to stay strong despite the struggles that he and the family faces.
"Despite all the stress from waiting on news, chemo, radio, side effects, and everything else that comes with cancer, our Dad has managed to stay positive and never lost his sense of humour. As bad as his jokes may be, this has really helped us to stay strong with him."
One of the pillars that have allowed him to stay positive throughout his battle with cancer is York's Leveson Centre. The centre offers a calming space where people facing cancer can find comfort, support, and a sense of community.
"...he's often said that Wednesdays are the day that he most looks forward to in the week, when he joins others going through cancer for their weekly coffee mornings to put the world to rights."
The Leveson Centre is funded by York Against Cancer, which allows them to provide services such as art classes, and complementary therapies such as massages, reflexology, Pilates, and yoga to help manage the mental wellbeing of their patients.
"We've seen first-hand the impact their work has. That's why my brother Steven and I are taking on this 10K challenge; to raise money for the people who've helped our dad and family so much, and to make sure others can benefit from the same care and support."
Thanks to everyone's support, Andrew and Steven have raised over £1000 for York Against Cancer. You can contribute to their efforts by looking at Andrew's JustGiving page, and help the Leveson Centre be able to continue the amazing work that they do.
