Several members of Bury Ladies Hockey Club are gearing up to take on the Bury 10K this September, with hopes of inspiring others to get active and encouraging new players to join the club.
Kerry and her teammates are taking part in the popular local event to raise awareness of Bury Ladies Hockey Club and highlight the benefits of getting involved in sport within the community. They are also taking part in the Clarence free running club training on a Tuesday to prepare for the day.
Speaking about the club, Kerry said: “Hockey is a fantastic way to stay active, improve your fitness, make new friends and be part of a welcoming, supportive team.”
The group hope their participation in the Bury 10K will show that sport is accessible to everyone, regardless of age, experience or fitness level.
Kerry added: “We want to show that sport is for everyone, whether you’ve played before or are thinking about trying something new. We hope our participation inspires others to get active and, perhaps, come along and give hockey a try.”
Their enthusiasm reflects the spirit of Run For All, which encourages people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds to take part in its events and enjoy the physical and mental benefits of being active.
Grassroots clubs such as Bury Ladies Hockey Club play a vital role in bringing local communities together, creating opportunities for people to stay active, build friendships and develop new skills. By taking part in the Bury 10K, Kerry and her teammates hope to inspire others to embrace sport and discover everything their local hockey club has to offer.
